Easy, Delicious, and Healthy Black Bean Recipe

Ingredients
1 ½ pound of dried black beans
¼ white onion
Stems of one cilantro bunch
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 Tsp cumin
1 bay leaf
Salt to taste
Procedures
Place the dry beans into a large pot and add water to completely cover beans. Cover the pot with a lid and leave the pot at room temperature to soak. Soak the beans for up to 8 hours.

After the 8 hours have elapsed, drain the beans and discard the water. Rinse the beans really well and place them back into the pot. Fill the pot with just enough water to cover the beans completely.

Add the minced garlic and cumin and mix into the beans. Without stirring them in, add the onion, cilantro stems, and bay leaf (you will remove these from the pot once the beans are cooked). Bring the beans up to a boil and let simmer for about 1 to 2 hours or until the beans are tender and soft.

Remove the bay leaf, onion, and cilantro stems from the pot and discard them. Add salt and pepper to taste, then serve the beans while still hot with rice, tortillas, or your favorite sides.
